The 2025 Service Learning Programme successfully conducted a series of school outreach visits across eight partner institutions in Kisubi, Kitala, and Entebbe, reinforcing its commitment to community engagement and experiential education.
The outreach covered Kitala Primary School, Mugezi Secondary School (Kisubi), Kitala Secondary School, St. Ssebugwaawo Primary School (Kisubi Boys), Entebbe Parents Secondary School, Entebbe Secondary School, Bosto High School, and Airforce Army Secondary School. These schools collectively host a population of approximately 11,473 students and 460 teaching staff, forming a strong foundation for impactful engagement.
From this population, 896 students actively participated in service-learning activities, taking lead roles in planning and implementing projects tailored to the needs of their respective schools and communities. The projects focused on key thematic areas such as health and hygiene awareness, environmental conservation, mentorship and career guidance, academic support, and community sensitization.
Through these initiatives, the programme reached an estimated 10,210 beneficiaries, the majority being students, alongside teachers and members of the surrounding communities. Schools such as Airforce Army Secondary School, Kitala Secondary School, and Entebbe Secondary School recorded some of the highest outreach numbers, reflecting both scale and depth of engagement.
The programme emphasized hands-on learning, enabling students to develop critical skills including leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. At the same time, participating schools reported increased awareness of health practices, improved environmental responsibility, and strengthened school-community relationships.
While the outreach achieved significant success, it also highlighted areas for growth, including the need for more resources, improved coordination, and stronger follow-up mechanisms to ensure long-term sustainability of the projects.
