The University of Kisubi (UniK) today hosted a team from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) as part of a monitoring and assessment exercise on the University’s Community Engagement and Service Learning initiatives.
The engagement brought together members of the University Management led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. Kakooza Celestine and the Service Learning Coordination Team led by Dr Bernard Luwerekera to reflect on the design, implementation, impact, and sustainability of Service Learning as an integral component of Universities teaching and learning philosophy. Discussions focused on how the University intentionally integrates academic learning with meaningful community engagement, enabling students to apply classroom knowledge and skills to address real-life community challenges.
The NCHE led by Dr Husein Ssemambo Kakembo was taken through the University’s Service Learning framework, highlighting its contribution to enhancing student learning outcomes, strengthening community partnerships, and fostering values of civic responsibility, leadership, and social accountability among learners. The session also provided an opportunity to share experiences, best practices, achievements, and lessons learned from various experiences.
The University of Kisubi appreciates NCHE’s continued guidance and support in promoting quality higher education and recognizes the importance of such engagements in strengthening Community Engagement and Service Learning as essential pillars of holistic education and national development.
