UNIVERSITY OF KISUBI SERVICE LEARNING TREE AND FLOWER PLANTING ACTIVITY

The UniK Service learning programme, through the UniK service Learning Club has one of its goals in environmental responsibility and sustainability. This is fostered through tree planting, greening and Bulungi Bwansi projects. All these are spearheaded and carried out by the member students of UniK SL Club.

In light of this, the UniK SL organized a greening activity that took place on the 09th October 2023, Monday from 10:00am -12:00pm. The key activities were planting flowers around the University monument, shrubs around the walk way to the University Parking Yard and orange fruit trees on the right-hand side of the science block. The flower species planted are environment friendly and flower all year. They will provide beauty to the university compound, produce a nice scent and purify the air.

The orange fruit tree specie will have a short gestation period and thus will serve the University community with fruits and simple shed. The shrubs along the walk way shall provide beauty and prevent car owners from misusing the green.

The university administration provided space for planting, officially through the estate’s manager .

The activity involved the UniK SL students club members, the SL Executive members and the student’s guild representative(s).
